a food photo diary

For the meals you want to come back to.

Plate is an early iPhone food diary. Join the waitlist for the next TestFlight beta.

what is Plate?

Plate is a food photo diary for iPhone, made by Efe Bakır and Gülenay Atmaca. It gives the meals you cook and eat a home beyond your camera roll: photos with a date, a title and an optional note, ready to revisit.

Keep the soup you learned from your mum, the dinner you made with friends or the small change you want to remember next time.

Plate is for food memories. It does not calculate calories or macros, plan a diet or manage recipes.

start with photos you already have

Current research beta lets you add a plate from Photos or take a new photo with the camera. Start with a few favorites, then give each plate a date, title and note to help you remember it.

You can find saved plates again in your diary and edit their details. Plate is not an automatic organizer for hundreds of camera-roll photos; choose the meals you want to keep.

your diary, your choice

Current research beta keeps your private diary on your iPhone. Its diary does not require an account.

Each person keeps their own diary. Table view arranges plates visually; it is not a diary that several people edit together.

Deleting the app or its local diary data can remove private plates from the phone. Our privacy details also explain the connected features being tested in newer versions.

come back for dinner ideas

Look through your own plates when you cannot remember what to cook. Current external research beta uses sample content in Friends and Discover; those areas are not a live sharing network in that version.

Newer preview on this website shows sharing with friends and public plates in Explore, still in internal testing. We will confirm which features are available with your invitation. Saving a plate is not recipe importing or ingredient-list management.
